Google Blogger...meet Cali Rae Riewerts. (7lbs 10oz). This go around things were a little different for delivery. We rocked it C-Section style and it was a lot different than a normal delivery. With all the craziness of major surgery, I was still blown away at the miracle of life and Teresa and I were overcome by emotion as we met our new daughter. There were no complications and Cali received a clean bill of health! Recovery for Teresa is going well and she is powering through the recovery phase. Rachel couldn't be more thrilled for her new baby sister and she is stepping into her new role with ease. I think the only thing that could be a little bothersome is that Cali has her nights and days flipped so when people ask us if we are getting any sleep, the answer is now always "NO!" (Rachel has nights and days correct so our sleep wasn't disrupted as much...I know, we were spoiled) Everything is awesome and our joy is again full...time now to get back into some sense of normalcy...

A Utah 4th of July

For the 4th this year we ventured off to UT and hung out with family. Little did we know that UT does the 4th of July RIGHT! It seemed like every city had it's own thing going on. We hung out in Riverton and hit up the Riverton Days events. We paid money to the carnies to try thier games and go on carnie rides....Rachel loved the rides especially the ones that went "high in the sky". Thanks to all the fam for letting us crash thier houses and to all of Rachel's cousins that gave her a TON of attention. She actualy cried today because she wanted to see her cousins but she couldn't ;( Here are some pics from the weekend.

We just returned home from a quick trip to SoCal. It was Teresa's annual work party/dinner so we had work stuff one day and the rest we spent with family/friends in Simi Valley and HB. I of course managed to throw in a late night Harbor House run with the guys and a stop at TK Burger the next day. Teresa ate ALL the golden spoon she could and now has millions and millions of Active Cultures in her body. The AVP tournament was this past weekend in HB and we even got down to support Casey Patterson on Friday for a little bit. Rachel loved the "bolleyball" and I already have her on a bump, set, spike routine as of last night.

Jan 30th was Rachel's 2nd birthday. Due to her recent obsession with Finding Nemo, we of course had a Nemo party. All her friends came over and they had a great time...

Next on the docket was Rachel's first college basketball game, CU Buffs vs Iowa State Cyclones. Surprisingly, the game kept her attention the whole time and aside from getting a little tired toward the end she was perfect. CU won by 2 points and though she probably doesn't understand "buzzer beaters" or "last second shots" she was right there with everyone else to clap and say "GO BUPPS!"

Finally, Rachel went on her first "unofficial" date. We went and saw a local community play of Annie. Though she is only 2, it was sooo funny to see how HAPPY she was to see Mathew. He even brought her a flower that by chance happened to match her pants. She was showing off the whole time and had to ALWAYS sit next to him and always had to make sure that Mathew would clap when she clapped. In fact, when the play started he was sitting on my lap and she insisted that she take the other leg so that they can play "footsie". If it wasn't for her age you would have really thought she was on a real date with a guy she was trying to impress. It had Teresa and I laughing the whole time...14 years left Rachel...14 years.

Last weekend I made it out to CA to see Brad's wedding. Great times and a fun guys weekend. Hit up all my favorite eating spots ( I heart TK), got dressed up to surf but had to turn around (thanks Ocean for being high tide and shore break that morning), stayed up late nights catching up with friends and crashed at Adam's house for the weekend. All in all a good time but more important so stoked to see Brad get married. Congrats little brother...you caught yourself a good one.

First Snow storm of the Year....sorta

Our first snow fall was around the first week of October but it didn't amount to much. The storm I am referring to happened a few days before Halloween on the 28th. About 16 inches fell over two days. The pics below are from just the first morning. We didn't really get any photos after the second day because I had to fly out to UT for work the next morning....yes that's right about scared me to death. Especially since the next morning was a full on blizzard and I had to take a puddle jumper type plane....thanks Frontier. Rachel loved the snow though and we got her an outfit to play in. She loved the snowman we made together the first day and now anytime she sees snow she screams "SNOWMAN!" We also bought her a sled. She was a little unsure the first couple times down the small hill in our front yard but after about two times down she started saying "seat daddy, seat, push" Even with a runny nose and being cold she wanted to continue to be pushed down that hill over and over again.

Halloween 2009

Great weather and times this year for Halloween. A few weeks prior we went to the pumpkin patch to get our pumpikns. Due to a recent snow storm a few days earlier the pumpikns froze and weren't in the greatest of conditions. But we made lemonade our of lemons found a few pumpkins that looked half way decent, checked out the petting farm and enjoyed some pumpkin bread. The night of Halloween Rachel dressed up as a dog that doubled as a head warmer. We weren't sure if Rachel would understand what Halloween was all about, lets just say that notion was gone before we even showed up to the first house. Needless to say she had it down pat and racked in all the good stuff for Mom and Dad and yes herself. Enjoy the pics:

Baby Ania's Blessing Weekend

The second weekend of October we flew out to Utah to attend Baby Ania's blessing. We had an awesome time from seeing Becs score her first goal, Rachel playing Golf for the first time and playing football with the boys. The highlight of course was being able to finally meet Ania. She is such a beautiful baby and definitely worth the wait. Her spirit was so strong and we are so grateful she is a part of the family. Lets be honest though, we are bummed that the following week Jon, Liz and Ania moved to Poland. Yes that's right, Poland. I guess our relationship for now will have to flurish on Skype. Stars, Lots of Stars and the Hawaiian Moon!

A few weeks ago Teresa and I went on a trip to Kauai. A few of our friends from Colorado joined as well and we had a great time. Our itinerary was jammed packed with stuff and I think we are still trying to recoup and catch up on sleep. From an 18 mile sea kayak trip around the Napali coast (Rated #2 of Top 100 things to do in the US by National Geographic), to an 8 mile round trip hike to a 350 foot waterfall, to a 25 foot waterfall with cliff jumping and a rope swing, to a luau, to seeing Waimea Canyon (called the Grand Canyon of Hawaii), to snorkeling, to Queens Bath, to all the shaved ice we could eat (thank you Wishing Well for all the goodness you could offer!) we had the time of our lives...and yes I did manager to throw in 4-6 hours of surfing in each day, my shoulders are now shot. All in all it was a fun time but we are sure glad to be back with Ra-Ra(She stayed with my parents.) Here is a slide show with some pics from our trip...enjoy!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

After the race (see below) we joined up with Rachel's Uncle Josh and Aunt T to go walk around the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, or for me limp around. We have always heard about this place but never had the opportunity to visit. Let me just say it was awesome and worth a visit. Not overwhelming like a large city Zoo but just big enough to keep Rachel's attention. Plus for some reason we caught all the animals being very interactive. In fact you can even feed the giraffes, which Rachel loved. The Zoo sits up on Cheyenne Mountain which overlooks Colorado Springs (for you military buffs, Cheyenne Mountain is also home to N.O.R.A.D.). The views are fantastic and the Zoo is well laid out and full of cool animals. Rachel loved the monkeys, giraffes and monkeys the most...did I mention she loved the monkeys the most! The weather was perfect and all in all a great day!

Sub 2 Hours!!!!

The scarlet letter of running a half marathon over 2 hours has officaly been stripped from my chest. Those that know me know that I am very competitive and after finishing my first Half Marathon in August at 2:03:09 I had mixed emotions. Excited because I ran my first half marathon but upset because I missed sub-2 hours by only 3 min and 10 seconds. So of course I had to run one more...luckly there was one more non-sunday race left in CO and it was the ADT half marathon in Colorado Springs on Labor Day. I felt good on this race and ran very strong. I finished at 1:57:41!!!!. (8:58 per mile pace.) With the majority of the race season now over (one last 5K in Nov) it is on to thinking about next season. 2010 is the year of the Marathon!

Summer 2009 #5: The Half Marathon

So I finally did it, I ran my first Half Marathon. The day before my birthday I got to take an item off my bucket list. It was a great time, there were even 6 people from my Ward that ran as well. It was a little harder than I thought. Especially since we started at 8,000 feet. Granted we finished at 7,000 feet so you would think that going downhill would make you fast but the opposite is true. The declines were very steep and there were a whole bunch of up hills...I mean we are in the Rockies. All in all I am glad I finished it, though I didn't get the sub-2hr time I wanted (2:02) That's ok though as I already signed up for another one on Labor Day. What the heck has gotten into me....

Summer 2009 #2: Our Wedding Anniversary

This year Teresa and I got away, sans child, to explore Beaver Creek. We landed an insane deal on a hotel suite up there and had a great time. It was overcast the first day but that made for some sweet pics on the way up the lift. We had a nice dinner the first night and even got some dancing in. The following day we hiked up to an alpine lake. We love Colorado!

We took Rachel to the Zoo for the first time in June on Teresa's Birthday. She had a ton of fun especially at the Monkey cages. She has a fascination with monkeys and probably would prefer to live in a cage filled with monkeys and dogs. It's a good thing we started with the monkeys because by the half way point she was over it. Maybe in a couple more years when she "gets it" we will buy some season passes and hang out there more often.

Bolder Boulder 2009

It took me 31 years, but I finally have gotten myself in shape enough to run. I have been addicted to running ever since Jan...don't ask me how and don't ask me why, as it's still puzzling to me because I HATED running prior to that. Today was my first race, a 10K at the BolderBOULDER. I won't lie, I had a hard time sleeping the night before and I was nervous coming to the starting line but with my brother Josh by my side and and a goal in my mind I was set to go.
In Feb when I signed up my goal was to just finish the race, by April I wanted to be under an hour and as of last week I wanted to beat 55 minutes (I may have thrown out there 50 minutes but that was the Big Hairy Audacious Goal). The run went well, started very fast but kept an 8:30-8:50 pace for the whole race, of course there were some slow periods like the "cattle herding" going on as you enter the stadium but with all that, I finished at 54:31.65 (8:47 Pace). I was so stoked and it looks like we have started a new memorial day tradition as the rest of our family felt the bug and committed to running next year. Here are some pics to of the days events:

Cubs game and UT Trip

Last week I was gone on a couple business trips. First stop was in Chicago for a client briefing at our distribution facilities. Of course, while I was there I couldn't miss the opportunity to catch a Chicago Cubs Game at Wrigley. Figuring it would be a "once in a lifetime" opportunity I spared no expense and we sat 6 rows behind home plate. By far one of the top 3 baseball experiences of my life. Such an amazing place and so full of history it is hard not to be nostalgic.

The last stop of my trip brought me to UT. This time around though, thanks to Frontier botching a flight of mine about a month ago, we had a free ticket and Teresa and Rachel joined me on Friday and we stayed at Teresa's sister's house until Sunday evening. Good times had by all and Rachel was overly spoiled by her gracious cousins. Even Grandma Jagard showed up and surprised us. So with all her cousins, both sets of Aunts and Uncles and her Grandma she was showered with attention and she partied late nights like a rock star.

Thanks for a fun time everyone, we can't wait to do it again!

Two month recap...

With life being so busy, I have to resort to these recaps. It actually snowed about 6 inches last night and has lingered today so that gives us plenty of time for indoor activities...to include updating our blog.
So here we go:

First off in the family visits was Teresa's brother Denny. He was in town for a gig and Rachel had a fun time playing with him.

A couple weeks after that, Teresa's brother Jon and his sweet wife Liz came into town for a wedding and spent a few extra days with us. It was great having them here and Rachel loved all the attention. Hopefully they loved Colorado enough to one day move out here.

A couple weeks after that Teresa's mom flew out for a week and was so surprised by Rachel's growth and growing personality. Rachel really has been so much fun as of late and keeps us well entertained throughout the day.

She LOVES to read, and gets any chance she can get to pick up a book and either read it to her self or bring it to mom and dad to read. Some of the shorter simple books we have memorized..."I know what I want to be when I grow up, an Astronaut" (from her fav, Big Birds letter "A" book)

Even though we had some rough weather these past few days, this winter has been very mild, almost half the days where 60 deg or better...sometimes even reaching in the high 70's. That gave Rachel some opportunities to play outside and venture to the park almost any day it was warm.

She also found Joy in feeding herself at any occasion, though we have noticed that she has the "hide the food" trick down as she stuffs her unwanted veggies down at the crease of her seat.

She learned the sign for "baths" and gives it to us 4-5 times per day, of course we disappoint until the evening when she can finally have her chance to splash and play in the water.

For Easter we went to Nana and Pop's place (Eric's Mom and Dad's). Rachel loved the time with her grandparents and their dog Cassie. She also got to play with Uncle Josh and Aunt T. We were unsure if she would get the concept of the egg hunt but she learned fast and after only a couple minutes was running all over the yard finding eggs and placing them in her basket.

On Jan 30th Rachel turned 1! Amazing how fast time has flown. She is this little person now complete with a cute personality and lots of love. Well, if you hadn't see from previous posts she absolutley LOVES dogs. So of course we had to have a dog themed birthday. She had a bunch of her friends come over....some just a little older than her, but they all treat her so well, and she loves playing with her friends no matter what age. She had her first true "sweet" with her giant cup cake, and would point and laugh everytime she saw the many dog pictures strewn around our house. Happy First Birthday Ra-Ra.

A few weeks ago Rachel had her first haircut. She loved it, and looks like we have a princess in the making. Randi did a great job and will have a repeat customer from here on out. Meanwhile...Dad has been adding up the cost of product in his head ever since she sat in that chair and smiled....

Christmas 2008

I know I know...I have been horrible about updating our blog. Life has just been very busy as of late and the free time I do get I try to spend with Rachel and Teresa and catching up on my favorite shows. Maybe I should ask for a "bailout" of my time...

So this year for Christmas break we went to SoCal to be with the Jagards. First time in three years. We were there for about a week but the time flew by so fast. We had something going on almost everyday so it was one of those "we did a lot" vacations..opposed to "we did a lot of nothing".

On Tuesday we went to the Jay Leno show. We showed up a little late, I had to run 3 miles because "I" forgot my ticket in the car and there is no parking at the studio, and we were the last ones picked but we ended up sitting in the front row and even got to be on TV when he came out and we shook his hand. We had a friend record it and put it on DVD for us but have yet to get the goods. Here is the monologue from that night...if you listen carefully enough you can hear us laughing in the background.

If any of you ever get an opportunity, it is a great free and fun thing to do. Afterwards we went to the Originial Bob's Big Boy. I remember going to these restaraunts as a kid when I was growing up in DC but I guess they have all shut down except for this one.

On Wednesday Teresa's mom threw a fantastic Christmas dinner party complete with White Elephant exchange and amazing food. There were about 20 people there and of course Rachel was the Belle of the Ball.

Christmas morning was great...we got to sleep in. Of course always in the back of our minds is the fact that in 2 or 3 more years those mornings will be the opposite as we will have to chase our children down the stairs at the crack of dawn. Rachel loved all the gifts she got. Her favorites were the sing-a-long thing she got from Aunt Heather and Uncle Denny and the dalmation dog Aunt Sarah got for her....well that and the $1 dog I got her at the grocery store for her stocking...she loves dogs as you can tell.

On Friday we went to the Ronald Reagan Library. Teresa's sister works there and she gave us the VIP tour...well essentialy we didn't have to wait in the line for the Air Force one exhibit...and she gave us a lot of the "inside" information. Okay okay we'll admit, we did feel special. My dad loved to work for Reagan so it was really cool to see the whole life of this great President. The library/museum was put together very well...and a must see if you find yourself in North Los Angeles.

On Saturday we took Rachel to a restaraunt that does open mic Kareoke....Sarah, Teresa's sister, loves to go and Rachel even went up with her Dad and sang ABC's. When everyone in the audience started to sing along she was having the time of her life and clapping and laughing....too bad we didn't get video of it.

Sunday jumped back on a plane and after an almost 3 hour delay we finally made it home at 2:30am. We won't go into anymore details regarding that adventure as our goal is to portray our daughter as a perfect angel.

Steps, Lights, Drums, Dogs and everything Rachel

So here is the latest from Rachel in no particular order. The weekend before Thansgiving Rachel took her first "official" steps....now she can go across the room like a champ and even has the bumps and bruises to prove it.

For Thanksgiving this year we flew out to Northern California to introduce Rachel to Gramsie Rosenthal (Eric's Natural Mother) and to the rest of the Riewerts family including her other set of Great Grandparents, Great Granny and Great Pop (Eric's grandparents.) As you can see in the pictures below she had a great time hanging out with Gramsie for Thanksgiving and at the Big Trees national park and than a day with her Riewerts relatives.

She had her first kiss with her "boyfriend" Cru...She may have enjoyed it too much and we need to make sure she closes her mouth from here on out...not sure where she got that from...ahemm.

One morning after her dad and Uncle Josh played flag football, Rachel watched as we played Rock Band on the Wii. After Josh left I turned around and saw this (I know, I have a bad baby voice):

So this year we are going to SoCal for Christmas as this will be the frist time in 3 years that we get to experience the "bright lights" of LA at the Jagard home. Due to this we had an early Christmas celebration at my parents house here in Colorado. Rachel seems to love this holiday, she is fasinated with the lights, the Christmas tree and her new toy dog. (I video taped the whole thing but the size doesn't allow me to post on blogger...there is a little video I put at the end that has her playing with it while we are opening presents)

I think this breaks a record for the longest post on this blog. Teresa said I was getting a lot of flack for not updating the blog with more pictures of Rachel so I gave it to you all at once. Enjoy and see you in 2009!

If any of you have been to breakfast with me in HB, you know there is only one place I will go, The Sugar Shack, and here there is only one thing that I will order, The Keppler's Special. Well, I have missed my sat. morning visits to this downtown eatery, so here in CO at the Riewerts Shack I recreated my favorite breakfast. Ingredients: English Muffin, Tomato, Avocado, Eggs, Bacon, topped with Hollandaise Sauce and WA-LA...you have this culinary masterpiece....thank you Keppler, who ever you are.

Halloween 2008

Happy Halloween to everyone...Rachel had a blast and loved seeing all the kids come to her house...some costumes had her mesmerized and we think she was more interested in showing off and trying to taste test all the candy we were passing out. Hopefully next year she will get the concept and we can take her out.

Pumpkin Patch

So we found this cool pumpkin patch where you actually get to go search the farm and cut your own pumpkins. It has been open for about two weeks now so it has been picked through...yet we still managed to find some good ones...and to top it all off they are only $5 a piece no matter what size! Here are some pics to get you into the Halloween/fall mode. Also....not sure if you can see in the background in some of our pictures but the mts have had some good snow already and there are two resorts already open...with a few more opening here in a couple weeks including Brek! My knee is all healed and I can't wait to get back out there this year.

We had another baby!!!!

okay okay not in the terms that you were thinking but I did "labor" for 3 months on this thing to include the raised stone patio I am standing on and the small bar you can see in one of the pics. No more grill blowing over when there are strong winds...that "baby" ain't goin anywhere. We did get the racks dirty a little bit before the colder weather set in and I am sure that we will cook on it occasionaly throughout the winter, weather permitting of course, but there is just something about having a grill in the summer time. I missed it dearly...

I know...I know I have been neglectful of our blog and posting pics of our daughter. After all, there is only so many times that you can watch Dwight say "murder ball...murder checkers." So with out further adieu, here are ten things new with Rachel:

3- For some reason she is obsessed with hitting herself in the head with her toys
4- She has her first battle scars from falling and hitting her head against furniture and toys.
5- She makes the funniest face when she is pooping. It is real poop now since she is getting baby food. At first she didn't understand what was going on so she would cry every time she was pushing one out.
6- She loves all the new foods she gets to eat...and she also isn't shy about supporting the company we used for our life Insurance.
7- She says "da-da da-da" all the time...but we aren't counting it since she doesn't do it when I point to myself
8- She loves her Baby Einstein movies...especially the one with the animals. She even sits with her Remote Control like Mom and Dad.
9- She loves to hang out with Dad and watch Football
10- When she gets excited she rubs her feet together...we call it the foot shuffle.

Teresa's mom and sister came into town for a couple weeks. One of the weekends even Teresa's brother Jeff brought his kids and Rebecca out to hang. We tried to do a lot of fun things while they were here. So we went to a Rockies game, took them to Estes Park to see the Stanley and go on a "hike" by the river. Also, while I was at Scoutcamp they went to see the Unsinkable Molly Brown house museum....I am sure it was loads of fun. We went golfing, played Rock band, made cookies and had a great time. Rachel loved being with her cousins and never wanted to go to sleep. She also had rice cereal for the first time...and loved it. Her opinion of the squash was not as favorable as evident of her wearing it on her shirt. She did get her stats at her six month appointment and she is 50% in weight, 95% in height (here we come volleyball) and 75% in head size (now we can really say "Rachel go cry on ya huge pilla...its like an orage on a toothpick) Enjoy the picks...

We just returned from a fun trip to SoCal...Rachel had fun and was a trooper powering out late late nights with her Mom and Dad. She was rewarded with Golden Spoon for her efforts (see pic below). We spent some time in HB checking out the US Open of Surfing, introducing Rachel to the ocean, eating at our favorite spots (TK Burger and Harbor House), doing a BBQ at Stephs parent's house with our friends (thanks again Steph...you and your parents rock) and even got in some surfing (my shoulders still hurt). Sat morning it was off to Simi Valley to hang with Teresa's family and we got to play at Marguerite's pool and have a BBQ over ther (Thanks Marg for the hospitality and letting us hang at your place), we watched Dark Knight and hung out with most of Teresa's family (sans the UT ones). All in all it was a great trip, our bellys are full, are eyes are tired, are bodies are burned and we can't wait to go back. Enjoy the slideshow:

Rockies vs Dodgers

Since I bought my season tickets before 2008 began last year, they gave me a bunch of free tickets to any one game I wanted. So being that Teresa is a Dodger fan I picked last Monday's game. My parents, brother and sister in law and the Underwoods joined us for a fun night of watching the Rockies being down by 8 in the first inning, enjoying FOOT LONG brats and watching a good old piece of Americana...Baseball. Rachel again was a trooper and hammered out the whole night even being a ham infront of my clients who were using my actual season tickets....because of which I told her that I would give her $1000 for a shopping spree...lucky for me she isn't old enough to understand.
The next day I was watching the reply of the game to see some of the close plays they didn't show on the jumbo-tron and in the 7th inning as they were cutting away to commercial break they zoomed right in on Rachel as I was dancing with her as she was sitting on top of my head...it was too bad I was watching this in my bedroom and not on the TV that has DVR so I couldn't rewind and take a picture...I am trying to contact the network to get a recording of the game, after all it was our daughters first big break into show biz.

Disclaimer: The past few weeks have been crazy so for all the haters out there I am sorry for not updating the blog more often. (Teresa has passed your messages on to me)

Now...a few weeks ago we took Rachel on a two night campout. Of course we were a little nervous of how she will do in a tent and hanging outside for two days ...and like always she was a champ! Aside from some cold hands and feet at about 4am she was perfect and slept mostly through the night....even with the family of racoons playing in our campsite both nights, Teresa had fun with that.

On Satruday we went to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. They had Athlete day so the center was open to the public for free with Athlete autograph signings, demos of certain sports, a car show, free BBQ and giveaways. Rachel got to meet a few of the Athletes and she even introduced her self to a couple of the womens volleyball players. We decided that we wanted her to be an Olympic Athlete and that Indoor Volleyball would be her sport (the outdoor girl's outfits are just tooo small.)

She also went on her first hike. We did about two miles on a trail that over looked 7 falls. She loved her baby carrier and baby talked the whole time. All in all we had a great time. Already looking forward to the next one.

After driving through every weather system in Wyoming we finally made it to Utah at about 2 in the morning...and through a tornado, hail storm, snow storm, rain storm and a fog storm Rachel slept...in fact we were in the car for almost 10 hours and she never once made a peep...what and ANGEL. Utah was great, we hung out with Teresa's family the whole time...even her Mom, Dad and Sarah drove up from CA. Lots of good times...here are some pics.

So tonight Teresa had a "girls" night out which meant that it was "Daddy Daughter" night for Rachel and I... and since Rachel had a tramatic day yesterday after getting her first set of shots I wanted to make sure tonight she got to let loose and have some fun...So while Teresa was out watching My Fair blablabla Lady here is what he did at home:

After about 2 hours of partying she crashed hard core (pic taken last night after her shots...but it fits for this story...minus the sad face I'm making)

All in all it was a great night and she didn't even remember her sad shot day yesterday...well until I had to take her three bandaids off of her...poor girl. Now she is sound asleep in her bed and I have to go clean up the mess we made before Mom gets home.

Rachel's First Adventure

We understand that there are a lot of "firsts" that are going to happen in our daughters life and we will try and not bore you with every "first" that she has but this one was of note because it was the "first" time out of the house. Teresa's brother, Jeff, comes into town every week for work and his company insists that he stays at the nicest hotels in the city and eats at the nicest restaurants. Well they just opened a Ritz Carlton about three weeks ago in downtown Denver. So last week Jeff was staying there and this time stayed an extra night so we decided to drive down and go to dinner with him. We ate at Elways (and if your wondering yes it is John Elway's restaurant, Denver-ites are obsessed with this guy)which was in the hotel and than we went up to his room at the Ritz. It was super nice and Rachel was great the whole time. Slept for most of her "first" outing and when she was awake she was quiet and very observant of everything around her. It was also Teresa's and my "first" time going to the Ritz are we are pretty sure we will never be staying there, unless one of us starts working for Jeff's company. We also are comforted that Rachel isn't old enough to understand this luxury so we don't have to worry about her growing up and always expecting this..er..Paris Hilton. For all she knows we went to Burger King and hung out with her Uncle at the Howard Johnson.

Rachel's Blessing

Due to Teresa's mom being in town we decided to have Rachel's Baby Blessing earlier than we first thought. We are glad we did that though because it would have been a shame not have her mom here for it. With that said Rachel was blessed on February 17 in our house. Our Bishop and First Councilor participated along with our Home Teacher and my Father. We had heard about doing the belssing at home and we are glad that we made that choice. It was nice to have family there and to be able to not have the preassure of having a microphone in your face in front of 300 people. Of course it was very quiet in the house during the blessing and the spirit was very strong. We also liked that afterward all our family stayed after to have dinner and spend time with Rachel. Teresa's mom made her blessing dress and Rachel did fantastic the whole time...not even a peep...just looked around and smiled.

It has been almost two weeks now since she was born and things couldn't be better. She only wakes up twice per night to sleep and for the most part you never hear her cry...except when you are changing her diaper and she gets cold. She loves spending time with all her family and friends and when she has visitors she puts on this "look at me" show. Dad has found his new favorite thing in that before bedtime he will lay in the recliner in her room and she falls asleep on his chest. Teresa's mom and sister have been out here and they are giving her all the attention she wants and needs. Enjoy the pics....

...so we have been busy adapting to life with Rachel Nicole and haven't gotten around to updating the blog with more pics for our family and friends. Life has been different these past couple days and adapting has left us very tired and exhausted but it is ALL WORTH IT!!! She is absolutly amazing...and her personality is already beaming through. She loves hanging with her Mom and Dad and with Nana and Pop. It is just amazing this little miracle that we now have and our lives as of late have been filled with all smiles and lots of love. Wow...the most amazing experience of our lives and she arrived on time. 7:05pm on 30 Jan 2008 she was 7lbs and 19 3/4 iches at the time of birth. She is as happy and healthy as can be and just loves hanging out with mom and dad. She loved her bath time and was looking forward to her manicure and pedicure...little did she know that she is gonna have to wait for that. She is already being super spoiled. Mom is doing great and had about 24hrs of labor. We should be heading home on Sat morning. Enjoy the pics and more to come.

The tension is killing us...this is even worse than Christmas as a kid, at least you knew when it was coming. Every day you think "this is it", every phone call from Teresa I think, "am i heading home to pick her up", every stomach pain, twitch and groan sends your heart beating a million miles an hour only to realize that her arrival is STILL pending. Our Patience is running extremely thin and we have already decided that our first lesson to her is going to be about procrastination. Funny thing is that she isn't "due" until Wednesday...maybe we need a lesson on patience. Well, we are as prepared as we will ever be...the room is ready...the clothes are bought...the toys, swings and gadgets are assembled and our bag is packed...our next post will be from the hospital...till Rachel's "0" birthday...

So ever since I was a kid I always wanted a "true" white christmas....not the fake one where they say that if there is snow on the ground than it is a White Christmas. I want to wake up on Christmas morning and as we are gathered around the yule log, sipping our mugs of hot cocoa see snow falling out of the sky. This year my wish finally came true...and it was glorious. Teresa about ripped my vocal cords out after my 30th rendetion of White Christmas...I just don't have the skills like Bing. Anyways...we got about 6 inches and the coolest part is that when we returned home from our parents someone had shoveled our driveway for us! How cool is that. We got dumped on again today another 10 inches, needless to say more shoveling and Teresa is now thinking that we all lied to her..."the snow never sticks, last year was a fluke" Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas...Have a safe New Years and lots of love. The Nursery

It took a little longer than most but we finally finished our Nursery. We got the idea from a model home that we saw and though it took about 5 rolls of blue tape, 4 different tape-offs, 2 cans of caulking (FYI, use this to get the smooth lines when painting layers)and one week of work it was all worth it in the end. And, since it snowed all day yesterday (first major storm) we were stuck in the house and put together the crib and dresser. We have yet to decorate but that will come in the next few weeks. Teresa told me that a few of her friends, out of state, wanted to see what the nursery looked like so that is why I posted this.

Thanksgiving 2007

All the Riewerts' in CO went up to Steamboat Springs for Thanksgiving this year. We scored an awesome deal on a 2 bedroom 3 bath that sleeps 10 people at a ski-in/ski-out. This snow season so far has been horrible...infact up until the week of Thanksgiving it was an avg. temp of 60 deg in the mts so they couldn't even make snow. Even though there was no snow we still went hiking, played a ton of games, watched movies, ate a ton of food and went fly fishing. We also woke up at 4:30 to hit up the sales at Walmart on Friday Morning. The greatest thing about Walmart was that we were in a small town and there were was no huge crowd..only about 20 sleepy souls that braved the 0 deg temp(Something to remember next year!). Steamboat is an awesome place and is recommended to everyone...infact it is only a 5 hour drive from SLC. All in all it was good times had by everyone.

So over the past couple months a whole bunch of our friends and family have wanted to see pics of Teresa pregnant. Unfortunalty she hasn't shown at all until last week where it seemed like her stomach was growing bigger and bigger night by night...it was quite amazing actually. For the first time she has had to wear her maternity pants but still as you can tell by the pics she isn't showing a ton yet. Our little girl is moving around everyday and is as active as can be. We can't wait for the end of Jan. She will be the best Christmas present ever!

Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Party

So on Monday night the Underwoods came over and we carved our pumpkins for FHE. We bought this cool pumpkin carving kit and used designs from that. At first it looked easy but than we found out that we bit off more than we can chew and it took a while to get them done. After a couple hours we finally completed our masterpieces and they turned out great. Teresa did the witch, Jeff did the Pirate ship and I did the tree. I also posted a picture of our Halloween Costumes...I was the QB and Teresa was the knocked up cheerleader. We wore these to a Halloween Party some friends threw.

World Series 2007 and I HATE BEN AFFLECK

So this past weekend my Dad and I got the opportunity to go to the World Series to see the Colorado Rockies play the Boston Red Sox...or should I say get smoked by the Red Sox. I had bought season tickets this season for the Rockies for the company to give out to clients and one of the benefits of this is first dibs on the playoffs games. This was my first time to a World Series game and let me just say that it was amazing. I can't put into words the energy the that encompassed that evening. Just walking up to the stadium was amazing. The game itself was a wave of emotions from being down six in the 4th to coming with-in one run via a 3 run homerun by Matt Holiday in the 7th. I hope the pictures do the game justice...check out the last picture..by far the best poster of the evening (Ben Affleck is a huge Red Sox Fan)

Career Ending Injury????

Teresa and I are tired of looking at my Transformers charachter so here is a little update:
So on Saturday I was playing Flag Football with the fellas and during an interception I tried to "juke" a player on the other team (yeah, I have mad skills like Reggie Bush) and I ended up juking my Meniscus into a tear. There was a big pop and I went straight to the ground. At first I thought it was an ACL tear, I mean isn't that what you would think, but it didn't swell up like an ACL injury would have. I was immobile for about 4 days and today I can barley bend my knee under it's own strength no more than 20%. After the injury and up until I found out it wasn't an ACL tear, I had contemplated going to work for ESPN or Fox Sports as a commentator or annylyst. Isn't that what stellar finley tuned athletes do after a career ending injury? Luckly though all I need is some rest and rehab and I will be back on the grid iron in about one month...
In other news we finally finished the backyard. I will be posting another more detailed post including pictures in the week to come. Seacrest out!!!

What a great weekend...it stinks that it is over. We drove out to Utah on Thursday night to attend Scott Brady's wedding on Friday. It was the first wedding I had been to at the Salt Lake Temple. Man talk about a circus...there were newleyweds coming out of the temple every 5 minutes. It was nuts. The ceremony was a different story though. By far the BEST sealing that Teresa and I have ever been to. We could have listened to this sealer for hours and hours on end. He brought such an amazing spirit and the advise he gave the bride and groom was amazing. I should have gotten his card to pass out to any friends planning a wedding. We would have paid to have this guy there at ours to seal us. Anyways, Scott had one of the biggest smiles on his face and it never moved...it was sooo funny. At the end of the ceremony Clay, Baker, Paul and I all agreed that we need to step up our game, another notch, as husbands and fathers. After the sealing we waited out side for them to take pix...it was cold and crappy weather...the kind of weather that is cold but not cold enough to snow so we just sat there in the cold wind waiting until they came out. Pix went by fast and than we went and ate at Cafe Rio....you know at first I didn't get the hype but now I crave it when we go to Utah..."they put an addictive chemical in there sauce that makes you crave it nightly...you wee girl" (Mike Myers, So I married an axe murderer)
That night we did the reception thing. It was at this cool warehouse in downtown SLC. We saw a lot of familar faces there and it was good times had by all. After the recpetion we hung out at Spark's House and Clay and I learned that Paul is a master Ping Pong Player...I am still fumming that i didn't beat him.

Aside from the wedding we stayed at Teresa's brother Jeff's house and hung out with all of Jeff and Kristen's kids and Kerri and Ryan's kids. On Saturday morning we went to the boys soccer games. Even with the cold weather Danny did great and scored a goal. William left his soccer game cause the little guy was too cold and him and Jeff came over to watch Danny's game with us. William loved the Starbucks hot chocolate and the picture I took of him makes him look like this little mature man. After the first session of sat morning conference the Hacking's came over and we had a Gingerbread house contest. The girls against the guys. Jeff was the judge and of course the guys won because we were unique in our construction and included places to build a roof top basketball court and lounge area on our house....and plus William's gingerbread monster was very scary...especially with all the gum drops that he used. Jeff and I also took Darren out to the driving range were I managed to break the face off of my nine iron and launch it 50 yards...yeah the ball went 120 so minus the broken club I call it a success. We also went and test drove cars and helped Jeff make a decision on his new work car. It is verrr nice.

Saturday night the guys went to priesthood session and than we went and watched the best movie i have seen in a long time: TRANSFORMERS. We met up with Erik Manning and Erik Oh and even ran into Adam and Misha Edwards...how random. Utah is a funny place...i get a huge kick out of all the random billboard advertisments. Next time I visit I am going to take a picture of them and post them on this blog so you all can get a laugh as well.

Teresa's sister wanted to see a picture of Teresa to see her pregnant belly....this is the only one we took and I am not sure if you can tell or not. I am supposed to say that you can't tell....That is a guy rule. I also got to feel our little girl for the first time this weekend....it was sooooo amazing. After watchng Baker this weekend I can't wait for our little girl to arrive.

Labor Day '07

Today we climbed part of Long's Peak in the Rocky Mtn. National Forest. We started at about 9,000 feet and hiked up a little shy of 12,000 feet to a place called Chasim Lake. It was 9 miles roundtrip and the most we have hiked in this high of elevation.

After 5 hours of hiking we are now SPENT. Next stop is to do the 14 hour Longs Peak trek....

What a weekend. It was so good to be back to Cali to see friends and get some much needed surf time in. We arrived on Wed night and first met up with the Halversons for some din din at Lou's, than we met up with the Kochs for a little G.A.Y. Still good as always...I love the fact that you get to choose what you want to put into your yogurt. The next day was more like one long day from Wed for me since I felt like a Kid trying to sleep on Christmas Eve. I slept maybe one hour and than drove down with Manning to San-O at 5:30 in the morning. We didn't have to pay to get in and the waves were perfect.
We surfed until 1:00pm the only thing stopping me was the fact that my rib cage was bruised so bad I couldn't lay on my board anymore. That night we found out that there are Ultrasound Clinics that you can go to to find out the sex of your baby, it only cost $30 and you get to see your little baby for a while. We found out that we were having a little surfer girl.

Friday Teresa had off and we went to the Sugar Shack with Jeff and Brad. The Keplers Special was as good as ever. Afterwards...Teresa and I just relaxed relaxed and relaxed.

That night we celebrated my 30th birthday with a BBQ at the Steph's parent's House.
Koch manned the gril and gave a completed Hamburger display that was fit for Martha Stewart. Teresa did a fantastic Job planning the awesome night. All the right people were there and it couldn't had been better.

Saturday morning we woke and went surfing again with Clay, Manning and even Halvey....yes that is right Halvey went out with us. I wish I brought the camera to document this rare event. We ate at Harbour House afterwards and than drove up to Simi Valley to see Teresa's family. We went to their roadshow that night where Teresa's sister was performing as Snow White.
She did such a fantastic job.

We also got to see Kevin for the first time. He is such a cute baby. We stayed the night and than flew out Sunday afternoon. It was one of the best weekends we have had in a while. I think being away from the beach helped us appreciate it even more. We were sooo spoiled before living so close and we didn't take advantage of it as much as we should have.

I guess it is time that the Riewerts' jump on the Bloggin' Band Waggon. Like fasion, music and slang we are a little slow to get the latest trends out here in CO. Though we are considered part of the "Western" United States, we are more like the red-headed step child of the "West". Things are going great out here. Teresa is 12 weeks now and we are supper stoked for Feb. 1st and our new arrival. After our experience in Feb we are cautiously optomistic about this one though all signs point for a positive experience this go around. The Kochs visited a couple weeks back and it was awesome to see lil' Charlie and see Nora and Adam as parents....almost inspiring.
We are going to be out in SoCal Aug 8-10 so hopefully we can run into some friends and Harbor House, San-O, TK, G.A.Y., and San-O. It has been almost a year now since we moved to CO and man has time flown by fast....we can't believe that we haven't yet returned to visit. Shame on us.
